It doesn't matter how fast your internet is during that process, it's comes down to how fast your SSD/HDD can perform a write. When it says there's no download and there's disk usage, it's because steam is delta patching a file. When they get written, the steam client is not working on the existing file either, it makes a copy of it, which takes time, then it delta patches it, which takes more time, then once it's verified and passes a hash, the original file is overwritten (which, you guessed it, takes more time). (I couldn't find a good channel for this post that's why it is in general.)Īrk's cache is huge and the files the updates write can be quite large (3-10GB in some cases). Any other game in steam or any other launcher I can download 20 GB in half an hour while with Ark I'm always happy when 200 KB are done within an hour.
